This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected and used when you use this website. The data controller is Shaykh Yunus Dudhwala ("we", "us"). If you have any questions, contact us at askshaykhyunus@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, when you subscribe.
  • Ask a Question form: your name, email address, the category and the question you submit, and whether you consent to your question being published anonymously.
  • Technical data: limited information needed to keep the site secure and working, including data processed by our bot-protection provider when you submit a form.

We do not use advertising or third-party tracking, and we do not knowingly collect special category data. Please do not include sensitive personal or medical details in questions you send us.

How we use your data

  • To send you the newsletter you asked for, and to confirm your subscription (double opt-in).
  • To read and respond to questions you submit, and, only where you consent, to publish a question and answer in anonymised form.
  • To protect the site against spam and abuse, and to maintain its security.

Legal bases

We rely on your consent for the newsletter (which you can withdraw at any time), and on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and keeping the site secure.

Who processes your data

We use trusted service providers to run the site: Supabase (database and file storage), Vercel (website hosting) and Cloudflare (email delivery and bot protection). These providers act on our instructions. Some may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place.

Retention

We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe, and questions for as long as needed to respond and to maintain the Q&A archive. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email askshaykhyunus@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it was last revised.
